Research
Glycyrrhiza glabra (L.) has a long history of medicinal use. Studies have shown that glycyrrhizin, the main active compound found in the root may possess anti-viral and hepatoprotective qualities. Studies to determine the anti-ulcer activity of G. glabra have proven inconclusive. Excessive consumption may cause hypertension and hypokalemia.
